We are currently accepting genre fiction, literary fiction, poetry, art, and non-fiction work. Non-fiction is welcome to be feminist, political, memoir, thesis, or dissertation. In general: Narrative work should be between 10,000 and 60,000 words. A count in MS Word or the equivalent is fine. Artwork should be no fewer than 10 pages, no longer than 30 pages, and no larger than 8.5 x 11 or easily shrunk down. All artwork submitted should be at a minimum of 600 DPI for photography and images and 1500 DPI for line drawings. All artwork will be reprinted in black and white, and therefore must be suitable for such. Text work may be no fewer than 10 pages, however you would like to define "page." Work may be one long piece or a collection of pieces. It is acceptable to have a mix of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and artwork, and/or a multiple-author submission (either co-written or a themed anthology). We prefer that you do not simultaneously submit here and elsewhere, and we prefer not to do reprints. However: All work is considered on its own merits and if it's not quite according to these guidelines or what we want, you will not be beheaded. If you are submitting simultaneously, or a reprint, please let us know. Note: it is the publisher's discretion as to format. No submission is guaranteed to be for trade paperback or chapbook. If you don't know what those words mean, don't worry about it; we'll explain it to you if it becomes relevant. Work may be submitted only via email as a Word document, PDF, RTF, or TXT attachment. No other formats are acceptable. Send complete work to submissions@porvidapress.org with the subject line SUBMISSION. Questions about this process may be sent to questions@porvidapress.org. Please read our mission statement and keep it in mind when you submit your work for consideration. Please also remember that we cannot publish all submissions. Turnaround time is 3 - 6 months.
